My grandfather,
Arthur Messingham, was the eldest of Jesse and Eliza's children, whilst
Charles Earl was the youngest, with a 19 year gap between them. Arthur
called one of his sons after Charles, i.e. Charles Frederick Earl, who
was also my mother's favourite brother. The 'Earl' goes back in the
Massingham history, when a Massingham married Dorothy Earle and this
name was carried on as a forename.
Charles and Dorothy emigrated
to Canada in 1930. They had a daughter (living) who I am in contact
with, living in Ontario, Canada. We have been in contact over the internet
and I have since visited her in Canada in September 2005. We have exchanged
photographs of our relatives and have both recognised resemblances and
traits of the Messingham family members. |
