Halsham

East Riding of Yorkshire

Halsham can be located by turning off the A1033 Hull to Withernsea Road in Ottringham and following the road. Halsham has a 12th century church, All Saints, tucked away from the main road and accessed via a grassed path.

The beautiful churchyard at Halsham. Nearly all of my Hunter ancestors are buried here

The Halsham Arms was not the original pub in the village of Halsham. In 1855 the Marrowbone and Cleaver, was situated further down the road towards Rimswell. It was changed to the Stagg Inn. The present Halsham Arms was previously called The New Stagg Inn. William Hunter became licencee sometime between the census 1861 - 1871. So, when was the original pub demolished?

Thanks to Dave Hunter for this.
